THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE
The first time you see Lucas, chances are he's either lounging somewhere with the same air of lazy satisfaction, or you're in trouble and need a lawyer. And if that's the case, he might still be lounging about in his office. He's the type to put his feet on the desk and tip his chair back until you're sure he's going to fall, but he never does tip over. And that's a good way of looking at Lucas' life; always teetering a bit, but never tipping.

ABILITIES & SKILLS
Arguing
It's not a 'skill' in the strictest sense of the word, but Lucas is very good at arguing his point. It comes in handy for his line of work, but it tends to drive his friends nuts at times. He's not too proud to admit he's wrong, but he'll argue for an hour before he reaches that point.
Driving
Lucas has a lot of experience with driving, in pretty much every kind of weather. Back before he had his roots planted, he wandered all over the country, often living out of whatever vehicle he was driving at the time. So he's driven a lot, and can get through New York traffic jams and New England snowstorms with ease.
Gardening
You wouldn't know it to look at him, but Lucas has quite the green thumb. Now that he has a house of his own, and a yard to putter around in, he's found that he really enjoys tending to various plants. And nothing is as satisfying as pulling vegetables that he grew himself for dinner in the summer.
THE PAST
Lucas has always been a wanderer. When he was a little boy, living on his grandparent's farm, he would often wander out past the fields and into the 'wilderness' of Buies Creek, North Carolina. And that wanderlust has never left him. After he graduated high school, he took a few years off before starting college, and in those years he traveled all over the country, living out of his truck and enjoying the feeling of not having to *be* anywhere for the first time in his life. He was wild, a bit reckless, and entirely free. When he finally did settle down to start school, he was itchy at first. Sitting in a lecture hall and staring out the window at the manmade greenery of the quad was nothing like driving through unbroken countryside with the wind in his hair. But his grandfather, who was the most important man in Lucas' life, had strongly hinted that he wanted more for him than the simple life of a farmer, so he stuck it out. As hard as it was, as often as he doodled trees and winding roads in the corners of his notes, he stuck it out. It was a long road, the kind he was unaccustomed to travelling, but at the end of it was his shiny new law degree and the tears in his grandpa's eyes after he graduated with honors.

After getting his degree, almost immediately after, Lucas was sitting on the porch of the old farm house he'd grown up in, drinking beer from sweaty glass bottles and smoking with his grandpa when he was handed an envelope. An envelope that contained a check for more money than Lucas had ever seen, and when he looked up in shock, old Andrew told him that he knew that he wouldn't be happy here. That Buies Creek was too small for him, and had contained him for long enough. They would miss him, all of the family that still lived on the same block, but they knew that he wasn't like that. He needed to find his own place, to make a name for himself in a place where he wasn't surrounded by people he'd known since preschool. And while Luke was loathe to leave his family, he was suffering from those same itchy feet that had taken him on a whirlwind tour of America when he'd been little more than a child. And so he left, after many tearful goodbyes and promises to visit, and hugs so tight they hurt his ribs, he was off. He travelled for a bit, looking for the right place to call home and enjoying the feeling of the wind in his hair again. He eventually came across a pretty neighbourhood in Savannah, Georgia. It wasn't the hustle and bustle of a busy city that he'd envisioned for himself, but it wasn't the snail's pace of Buies Creek either. It was a happy medium, and the breeze off the water and cobblestone streets made it an easy decision for him to make. He found a pretty house that had room in the back for a garden and got a puppy all in the same lazy afternoon. It was surprisingly easy for him to settle down, and soon he found himself living the kind of life he'd never dreamed of for himself.

THE PRESENT
Lucas has a law practice in Savannah, GA. It's a small practice, just himself and his partner and a few underlings. He owns a pretty little HOUSE in a quiet neighbourhood, something he never thought he would ever do because he thought he hated that kind of life. He's got flower beds and a vegetable garden, and he's shockingly happy with his quiet life. Far different from his nomad past, but he's not complaining. It's kind of nice to sleep in the same bed every night, and make your morning coffee in your own sunlit kitchen.
